Wine of the week: Wines of Merritt

A duo of scintillating, single-vineyard whites from new Margaret River outfit, Wines of Merritt. Here the two grape varietals have been coaxed into presenting thought-provoking characteristics with decidedly left-of-field techniques. But don’t be put off by this – they’re both effortlessly moreish and food friendly.

2017 Wines of Merritt Vermentino
This electric offering showcases mixed citrus elements (lemon blossom and flesh and grapefruit skin), crunchy nectarine and super-bright acidity. Bring the seafood. $38

2017 Wines of Merritt Chenin Blanc
Complex, concentrated and structured; this, made with some extended skin contact, is a textural delight. Think white stone fruit, lemon barley and pithy grapefruit. $44
