Wines of the week: 2017 Lerida Estate Pinot Noirs

Two delicious – albeit contrasting – expressions of Pinot Noir, both from different sites in the Canberra District, made by the same winemaker. This is why we geek out over soils and climate.

2017 Lerida Estate ‘Lake George’ Pinot Noir
Elegantly cool-fruited, with a faint bay leaf edge. Crunchy cherries and red currants mixed with earthy, autumnal leaf and allspice. All within a frame of balanced, oak-derived tannins.

2017 Lerida Estate ‘Tumbarumba’ Pinot Noir
We often wonder why the quality-driven, fairly-priced wines of Tumbarumba aren’t widely celebrated. Perhaps it’s the region’s relative obscurity. Perhaps it’s simply coincidental. In any case, here you’ll find wonderfully primary flavours: plush wild berries, dark tea leaves and bright acidity.
