A 2017 Serrat Offer

We’re thrilled to offer the new, highly-sought-after Serrat release. 2017, an excellent vintage in the Yarra Valley, has yielded pristine wines that show detailed site and varietal expression – the best we’ve seen yet under this label. Notes from the winemakers, Tom and Nadège Carson:

2017 Serrat Chardonnay
The nose is flinty and loaded with grapefruit and citrus notes with an under lying thread of complexity from the natural ferment, full use of solids and barrel fermentation, that will continue to come to the fore as the wine ages.

The palate is fine and focused with a purity and presence. It’s minerally and long, but has plenty of fat on the bones, it’s textured and creamy, but taut and driven. Drink 2020-2028. $50

2017 Serrat Pinot Noir
The bouquet is dominated by the cherry and red fruit spectrum (strawberry, spice, plum) with a really punchy and lifted floral element. It’s dense and complex, and draws you in. The most detailed and captivating aromas we have seen in this wine.

The palate is, at this stage, quite primary in flavour and tannin profile; but the hallmark silky tannins and lovely flow across the palate is there. Fine and persistent and detailed, it has a chewiness and density to the tannins that drives the length. One of our best. Drink 2022-2030. $50

2017 Serrat Shiraz Viognier
The nose is detailed and fragrant, loaded with spicy red and blue fruits, and a lick of ginger and spice from the Viognier. There is so much going on here; violets and perfume and a heady mix of Asian spice and black pepper.

The palate is layered and woven with super fine savoury but silky tannins. Blue and red fruits, spice, perfume and fragrant, it is super finely structured and detailed. The 2017 is so fine and balanced with exquisite length and detail to the palate. Drink 2025-2040. $50
