Bang for Buck: 2015 PaB Shiraz

Just after purchasing the Wild Dog estate vineyard and winery in Warragul, Pat Sullivan and William Downie completed a Shiraz which they inherited already in barrel. Their aim – after adding a splash of Chardonnay to provide lift and energy – was to highlight the quality of the vineyard while showcasing their winemaking ethos in the process.

The result is a wine of medium-plus weight, presenting notes of black fruits, cured meats and pepper spice. The Chardonnay component has evidently added some width and levity too, so if you’re in the mood for a classy pizza wine, this is definitely it.
