Wine of the week: 2015 Domaine Bobinet ‘Hanami’
Husband-and-wife duo, Sébastien Bobinet and Eméline Calvez, are firm believers in organic farming and non-interventionist winemaking. This, in part, is due to Sébastien’s early training with the heralded Foucault brothers of Clos Rougeard, but it’s more so an ideology which the pair see as vital to producing energetic wines.
As such, this 100% Cabernet Franc – which underwent semi-carbonic maceration and was vinified in stainless steel and concrete – presents a bouncy personality. Aromas of potpourri, sandalwood and incense lead to a palate of crunchy raspberries, plum and cherries which sit alongside structured tannin and pepper spice. It’s a compelling drop that ticks many boxes.
