Wine of the week: Frank Cornelissen releases

In the world of lo-fi and minimal intervention wine, Frank Cornelissen – hailing from Mt Etna in Sicily – is a force to be reckoned with. Since establishing vineyards on the Northern valley of the active Etna volcano in 2001, Cornelissen has been growing vines and making wine from his land with a ‘focus on accepting and following nature’. These are wines that speak of the soil, the climate, the region, and the energy of Etna. Cornelissen continues to hone his winemaking and deliver exceedingly pure expressions of the site and vintage, and this release speaks beautifully to that.

2018 Frank Cornelissen Susucaru Etna Rosato, $65
The infamous cuvée is back! Made from a blend of Malvasia, Moscadella, Insolia, and Nerello Mascalaese, this lil rosato sees approximately ten days on skins and undergoes full malolactic fermentation. The end result is fruit-forward, textural, and speaks to Cornelissen’s unique style.

Also available in Magnum (1.5L), $140 & Jeroboam (3L), $400
Purchase limit of 2 bottles per person for Susucaru Rosato

2017 Frank Cornelissen MunJebel Bianco Classico Grecanico Cariccante, $115
Coming from four vineyards (Calderara, Borriglione, Crasà, and Picciolo), this fifty/fifty blend of Grecanico Dorato & Carricante sees approximately four days of skin contact. Lightly textured, elegant, and complex.

Limited amounts of the following also available:
