High in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, at the end of a dirt road lies the Ellis family vineyard. The 50-hectar vineyard was planted in 1976 by founder Gerlad Ellis who was set on breaking the conventional notion that ‘you couldn’t grow grapes in the cold winds of Tasmania’ and that he did.
Through farming intuition and the odd luck of the draw, Meadowbank is now regarded as an iconic Tasmanian producer and respected fruit source to many well known producers.
A truly perfectly balanced Riesling with incredibly deft use of subtle residual sweetness to balance the acidity, drive and structure. Lashings of apple blossom and crunchy green apple building into mineral chalkiness.
