Located in the foothills of the dramatic Bourges Massif, Adrien Berlioz farms five hectares of certified biodynamic vineyards, planted to local Savoie varieties. The vineyards are so steep that the use of tractors is impossible, so all the vines are worked by hand with the help of horses. Vinified with minimal intervention, these are beautifully pure mountain wines that reflect the pristine valleys from which they come. Berlioz's La Cuvée des Gueux Blanc is a blend of Jacquere and Altesse with intense minerality and energy. Stylistically in the realm of Chablis and Loire Valley Chenin, the palate is textural and rich with candied lemon peel, honey, iodine, and musk stick spice with bracing acidity. Grab yourself a hunk of comté - or better yet, a wheel of raclette - and get stuck in!
