Beautiful and compelling Kabinett Riesling from Max von Kunow at von Hövel; using organically grown estate fruit grown over soils of blue slate and quartzite. Saline, smoky minerals are well and truly on show here, owing to Max's approach of emphasising the distinctive character of the Scharzhofberger vineyard. Grilled pineapple, granny smith apple, honey, lime leaf, and a hint of parmesan rind funk with glossy texture and a lovely interplay between residual sugar and acidity.
