Coming from high altitude vines in Charmes, holding more power and concentration than Foillard's Corcelette cuvée. Concentrated with crushed plum, a lovely minerality, and vibrant and fresh acidity. Superb!

Who is Jean Foillard?
Jean and Àgnes Foillard took over the family Domaine in 1980, at a time when Beaujolais was experiencing a paradigm shift. The commercialisation of the region had earned it a reputation for producing inexpensive, fruit-driven 'nouveau' wines - a style that has its rightful place in the wine world, but did little to promote the diversity and sense of place that Beaujolais had to offer. Jean and Àgnes, along with three other winemakers - Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thévenet, and Guy Breton - sought to challenge the industrialised winemaking in Beaujolais by promoting a return to traditional viticulture and winemaking, drawing from the teachings of a Beaujolais traditionalist by the name of Jules Chauvet. They ceased the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides, started harvesting late, and used only the highest quality fruit from old vines. They also began bottling their wines without fining or filtration and with either minimal or no sulphur additions. If these winemaking techniques sound familiar to you, it's because these four Domaines - dubbed the 'Gang of Four' - are largely credited with starting the natural wine movement, which has inspired countless winemakers the world over.
