Touriga Nacional grows natively in Portugal but suits the climate of McLaren Vale exceedingly well.

Heady aromas of violet, plum, and panforte lead into a dry palate of dark fruit, cardamon, and vanilla, with papery tannins. It deserves a plastic chair at every summer barbecue you throw this season!

Who is SC Pannell?

Stephen and Fiona Pannell established S.C. Pannell in 2004 to champion their adopted home of McLaren Vale, inspired by Stephen’s experience as Chief Red Winemaker at BRL Hardy. Stephen’s vision for pioneering new varietals, styles and blends to better fit Australia’s lifestyle and food, was equally shaped his upbringing on Moss Wood in Margaret River, and his time at some of the leading family estates of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo and Priorat. While Stephen celebrates iconic regional styles (Grenache, Shiraz and Cabernet), he saw the region’s potential for Agliancio, Fiano, Nero d’Avola, Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional, among others. This exploration led him into the nearby Adelaide Hills to further explore the potential of cooler climes. Stephen is one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers and continues making exceptional wines.
