Elisabetta Foradori is a pioneer organic winegrower from the Italian town of Trentino. She’s regarded as one of the most progressive winemakers in the country and is known for her propensity to truly express terroir. Each of her wines are enchanting, often featuring lesser-known Italian varieties.
This wine is somewhat of a happy accident, after relenting hail storms in 2017 destroyed 40% of Foradori’s harvest, leading her to experiment with the remaining fruit in various batch tests; some went into amphorae, some in wood, cement, or steel. And so, Lezèr—meaning light—was born. The resulting bright, lifted red has become a staple, continuing to evolve year after year, but always bringing lightness and ultimate drinkability to the fore. Unpretentious and such fun to drink, while retaining the signature Foradori deftness and complexity.
