Argalà is based in Bove, a small town in the foothills of the Maritime Alps. Established in 2011, their artisan spirits and liqueurs are made using traditional methods and flavoured with a mix of locally-foraged and mindfully-imported ingredients. Argalà's gin is a unique combination of gin and genepy - the latter being a popular alpine liqueur made by macerating wormwood flowers in a mix of distilled alcohol and sugar. Given that this is a gin, juniper leads the charge here, but there's a distinctive presence of genepy on the palate which contributes some grassy, almost chamomile-like flavours to the end result. A truly interesting and delicious spirit, which adds a lovely twist to any classic gin-based cocktail.
