Koomilya SC Pannell Tempranillo Touriga 2019

Chalk Hill’s got universal appeal thanks to cherry-cola, sarsaparilla that are delivered with mildly dusty tannins and concentrated profile. There’s also a little sea salt and salt bush – don’t forget dried oregano for the lamb – so it’s moreish too.

Chalk Hill Tempranillo Grenache 2022

The ripeness of Hilltops' fruit is doing nothing but favours to this Tempranillo. Gloriously medium to full-bodied in the glass with layers of sarsaparilla and cola nut meeting a lovely herbaceous edge and a wash of leathery tannins.

Linear Tempranillo 2022

If the words "easy-drinking BBQ wine" pique your interest, you're going to want to pay close attention to this! A Tempranillo with a splash of Graciano that's all cherries. Super bright red cherries and spice on the nose lead to cherry ripe characters on the palate, with a crack of black pepper and a nice smidge of tannin. Delicious.

Like so many of our favourite Tempranillios, there’s some cherry cola and plummy goodness wrapped in a nice weight and a savoury profile. Yum!

Richard Hamilton Sombra Tempranillo 2023

A fantastic take on this Spanish variety made with Tempranillo sourced from the Kenton Valley vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. Berry notes spill from the glass before kola nut, sarsaparilla and hints of licorice that are swept up by a wash of bright acidity and a good push of tannin.

Coulter Wines Single Vineyard C4 Tempranillo 2022

If you find yourself reaching for a GSM time and again, we implore you to give this fuller-bodied Tempranillo a go. Sweet and supple, with notes of fig, red currants and cherry jam, complemented beautifully by some chewy, soft tannins.

The sooner you crack into this, the sooner you can start enjoying the cherry cola vibes that are oh-so effortlessly complemented by some gentle, nutty tannin. This is very much a case of the right grape being grown in the right place. Hell yeah.

Pindarie TSS Tempranillo Sangiovese Shiraz 2021

Not only is there a dog on the label but what we have here is a straight-up, delicious Tempranillo, and we couldn't be happier about it. Fruit-forward and oh-so plush, with cherry berries, chocolate, and a smidge of tar-like tannin amongst a flash of herbs that go particularly well with a few lamb chops on the BBQ. Did we mention there is a dog on the label?

Battles Tempranillo 2022

Sourced from a single site, located in the higher reaches of Rowland Flat and fermented as destemmed bunches in an open fermenter, before aging in a mix of French and American oak. The resulting wine is the kind that will bring you a little bit closer to anyone you share it with—think raspberry cola, sarsaparilla and berry compote, with a little red liquorice and some moreish chocolate notes.

Spinifex Tempranillo 2022

Fruit for this is handled separately and fermented with a few whole bunches in the mix (around 5%) and matured in a mix of Allier and Tronçais oak for 20 months, before finally coming together in the bottle. Floral aromatics with a spiced edge lead to a palate layered with fleshy tannin and a dry, savoury finish.

Collector Lantern Red 2021

Suuuper aromatic with a big woosh of sweet cherry cola and raspberry liqueur. Tobacco tempers the sweet aromatics in the glass, with cinnamon spice and dusty, nutmeg tannins rounding things out. Don't think on this—just drink!

Scintilla Temprano Carbónico Luc de Montaña 2021

Biodynamic Tempranillo from McLaren Vale, made in a soft, approachable style that retains the savoury and earthy nature of the variety. Fat juicy cherries, a little sarsparilla and some Kola nut ith plump texture and gentle tannins.

Paxton Tempranillo 2021

An easy-drinking wine with soft, chalky tannins, hints of cocoa, cola, and spice. The wine was aged in seasoned French oak, allowing the Tempranillo to do all the talking. It's lovely mid-weight red to see you through the mid-week. (750ml) 14.0% ABV

Wangolina Tempranillo 2021

A reference to testing something out before ramping it up, and, on the strength of these bullets: bring in the artillery! This is a blend of Tempranillo, Lagrein, Aglianico, and Shiraz. Dark plum and sarsparilla with graphite flint & freshening acidity. Super tasty & a great wine for pizza night!

Ricca Terra Bullets Before Cannonballs 2020

Made in the 'joven' (or young) style to show off the vibrant fruit characters of the varietal, and show off it does! Pepper and tea leaf spice on the nose lead to a moreish palate of ripe cherry and violet notes, with a refreshing acid line. This is a drink now kinda wine, but there is enough substance if you want to take your time.

Crittenden Los Hermanos Tempranillo 2021

His Tempranillo spent 14 months in a mixture of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels (20% new), helping to push it into a savoury direction yet still retaining plenty of freshness. The nose is distinctively savoury with aromas of dried tobacco and licorice, yet the palate takes things in a different direction with red cherry, cola bottle and briny acidity underscored by firm tannins, tight-grained tannins.

Municipal Tempranillo 2016

Timo's Tempranillo is as unique as they come. The fruit comes from the Gembrook Hill Vineyard, which was macerated as whole bunches à la Timo's trademark style. Generous redcurrant and kola nut lead into savoury black olive, whole bunch spice and varietal grainy tannins.
