This is beautiful to drink and pours with the right energy, wrapped in tart cherry, pomegranate and helpings of sage and freshening bay leaf. There’s also a tight earthiness that fits right in when you consider the beauty that surrounds his Lake Wanaka vines.

Rippon Gamay 2020

Channelled through these Riesling vines are notes of lemon citrus, ripe apple, lemon barley, and savoury meal. There is richness to the wine but along with all these potent characters there is intensely mineral-laced acidity, phenolic power and intensity that capture the stunning environment in which it was grown.

Yoshiaki Sato has created a wildly aromatic wine with a real sense of place. Savoury notes of nori and forest floor aromas lead the way, with a lovely, delicate palate of berry fruit, tannin and a hint of whole bunch.

A high energy wine, with layers and layers of flavour. A big hit of minerality, salinity and florals that just lingerrrrrrrr. Great, just great!

Rippon Mature Vine Riesling 2019

Whole bunch pressed to stainless steel, and aged on full lees for three months. White grapefruit, bitter lemon cordial, and a lovely overlay of honey blossom with chewy phenolics and searing acidity.

Mount Edward Riesling 2019

If you’ve never had it, Burn Cottage is all silk and class, and will leave you looking for more Pinots from Central. A great wine to bring to a family dinner and one for the Tassie Pinot-lovers and bigger-than-Pinot red drinkers.

Full of black raspberry, black cherry and a rhuburb-y edge and rounded out with a lick of ashy tannin that will all soften with some time in your glass. Great substance and a lot of value here, those Kiwi’s are always good for that.
